Connecting and Social Distancing

You’re Not Alone: How to Feel Connected while Social Distancing

“Social Distancing.” A term that was not in our vocabulary a few weeks ago is now a way of life. As difficult as it may be for some to adapt to changes, there are many ways to feel connected at this time. Luckily, gas prices are as low as they have been for many years, which means if you own a motorhome or trailer, you are in a much better position than most to keep your life active and full of adventure. RV Prices are also at an all time low for you to shop safely from home. While some sections of National and State Parks may be closed, the areas that are still open are free to access. Hiking trails, cross-country skiing and mountain biking trails are just some of the many ways to reconnect to nature, as spring brings beauty and renewal after the winter months.

Take your children on a nature scavenger hunt while they are out of school. Children being home from school and many on e-learning give families’ flexibility to enjoy their time together, doing activities that busy families may not have had time for. Reading together, creating artwork and other crafts, cards and board games are a few ideas that will keep little ones entertained and stimulated. If you have grown children and younger grandchildren, learn how to use one of many forms of video calling available today. Facebook has a free video calling feature in its messenger app. A daily call to read a book together can make you feel connected.

Pets can bring a smile to anyone’s face on the dreariest of days. They are companions, entertainers and enjoy a warm snuggle. For many people, pets are just four-legged children. Not many hotels accept pets, or they may have restrictions on size and type. The best thing about owning a motorhome or trailer for some is taking along these furry members of the family anywhere. Scientific studies have revealed that taking care of pets and sending time with them has been revealed to be very calming and can actually lower your blood pressure.
